Marge and Jim Gower were born and live in Auburn New York. They live in their home with their French Bull Dog mix named Bugg.
Jim grew up in a family of nine, of which he is the youngest. He served in the Air Force in Viet Nam. He built air conditioners for forty years and retired in January. In his downtime, he does wood burning, drawing, while listening to a diverse collection of music.
Marge was the oldest girl with four siblings. After she married and started a family, she was a stay-at-home mom, until her girls entered school. Their two daughters are Colleen and Carrie. Colleen has two children Nicole (6) and Joshua (3). They live about fifty miles away. Carrie and her husband have a beautiful baby girl named Helen. She was born just before Christmas 2012. A welcome Christmas present for us all.They live about thirty miles away. Carrie is a Special needs teacher in Oswego, N.Y. and her husband, Kurt, works for channel 9 TV in Syracuse, N.Y.
Marge received a degree from Institute of Children’s Literature. In 2003, at the age of 57, she enrolled in college. She minored in English and writing, but earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2005. Marge worked as a para professional, as an aide for children with special needs. She retired in June 2012.
Marge spends much of her free time writing children’s stories and working on assorted manuscript projects. Some of her favorite hobbies include photographing nature. She films an assortment of wildlife that comes to their homemade nature center. She enjoys bird watching and has planted a garden to attract hummingbirds, meanwhile she waits for her elusive hummingbirds.
Update: 6/26/11 Marge saw several Ruby Throated hummingbirds hovering around her Honeysuckle vine. It was a glorious moment.
